Gender Pay Equality in the Workplace; An Update on Legislation in OH

An update on equal pay for equal work legislation in Ohio by one of the sponsors of the Fair Paycheck Workplace Bill, Representative Monique Smith

The Cleveland CPCU is pleased to host Representative Monique Smith for a webinar to discuss the history of the pay gap in both the United States and the state of Ohio. Representative Smith will discuss why this is such an important topic in today's workplace as well as the effort of House Bill 396 to tackle this ongoing issue.

Representative Monique Smith is currently serving her first term as State Representative for Ohio's 16th House District, representing Bay Village, Fairview Park, North Olmsted, Rocky River and Westlake.

Representative Smith previously served as a City Councilmember for the City of Lakewood from 2010-2014. Prior to her time on council, Smith served in AmeriCorps and on several local improvement boards and clubs to build better communities and encourage participation in the democratic process. She has also worked in marketing and sales at several private sector companies, giving her the ability to combine the best of private and public sector ideas to better serve her community.
